- I took the liberty of deleting the page, as per your request. Whether we use Holotionary to call this site, maybe we should wait for A-giâu's reply ;-) .btw, thanks for making min-nan wiktionary a better site!

[siu-kái] Milestones
A-giâu, this project needs 72 articles left before we reach 500. Please keep up to date because after 1 week (when Chùn-hiàn edits), we'll have 500 entries. If I will happen, please place it in the Wikimedia News because I don't know how to. Chin kám-siā! - A-yao, June 7, 2006
- Hello, A-yao: Nice work! I think the honor of posting the milestone should go to someone who's actually done some work here. Chùn-hiàn should be able to help in that regard. I'll back him up as a last resort :) A-giâu 06:06, 12 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] Wiktionary: Siau-sit
A-giâu, should we also list what we overtook/which overtook us? I based this suggestion on the Chinese version. Would this be fine? A-yao 13:17, 19 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] Help
A-giâu, I really need help in making Wiktionary progressive. Me and Chùn-hiàn is not yet enough to make it because making 1,000 articles is a big job with only a week for 100 articles. Please take note the Quechua Wiktionary has reached 100. Please also tell Astroviolin if he would still help in his Kok-ka-mia5. Pleas help me. A-yao 11:22, 20 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, A-yao, I think Wiktionary is fairly progressive, though perhaps not fast enough. As it is, my hands are full editing Wikipedia. On a good day I can churn out between 5 and 10 minimally-to-moderately informative stubby articles, but even at that heroic rate the article counter seems to barely advance. I've also attempted to recruit known POJ users to Wikimedia, but I admit I am baffled why they haven't involved some. Clearly, more creative campaigns are needed to engage people. I'll talk to Astroviolin about the country names. Thanks. A-giâu 01:01, 22 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] Bot flag for RobotGMwikt
A-giâu, may you please give a bot flag to RobotGMwikt (runned by GerardM) so that we can have the latest status of the interwiki. (GerardM asked me to give a bot flag for RobotGMwikt). A-yao 13:11, 26 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- Done. BTW a while ago I dropped off a note on Astroviolin's page in Wikisource regarding country names. A-giâu 15:27, 26 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- OK. I also asked Astroviolin in his Wikipedia talk page. Cheers! We will almost have 1,000 articles! A-yao 09:26, 27 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] 1000
A-giâu, we have 1,000 entries already!!! Cheers! A-yao 14:59, 29 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- Awesome! Time to take a break! A-giâu 16:30, 29 La̍k-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] Bot use
A-giâu, I would like a bot for making the ASCII POJ for all Min Nan entries because yesterday, I had made ASCII POJ redirects but I've seen that I will take a minute for creating a redirect which would be a waste of time in making new entries. Is the format of a Wikipedia bot same to a Wiktionary bot? If yes, please tell me how to A-yao 03:18, 15 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- The official bot works across several Wikimedia domains. You can find more instructions at m:Using the python wikipediabot (and m:Pagefromfile.py especially). Ideally an "ASCII bot" would periodically walk through Category:Bân-lâm-gú, checking each entry listed has a corresponding ASCII redirect and adding one if needed. To be more efficient it could process a local XML dump instead. A-giâu 09:51, 15 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- You're right, I have downloaded the software and the bot, the problem is that I don't understand how to run it as an "ASCII POJ bot". May you please give me a tip? A-yao 14:30, 20 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- You can't run it as such out of box. You would need to write a program in Python. At minimum it would need to be able to convert Unicode POJ to ASCII. For the "ideal" bot described above, more programming would be needed. The official bot (out of the box) can still be used to add redirects, though the work of discovering which entries require them is left to the operator. A-giâu 14:36, 21 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, is this a valid procedure. get data from Category:Bân-lâm-gú (list of Bân-lâm-gú words to process), get a dump of titles from data_dump all-titles-in-ns0.qz (list of page titles to find which ascii poj already exist, for skipping purpose), use perl (I know nothing about phyton and know enough perl to do so)to process data into a file that can be processed by m:Pagefromfile.py. Then use Pagefromfile.py to create redirects. Hiòng-êng 02:51, 24 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- I dont' have experience with dump but your procedure sounds reasonable. Even if the dump is not that fresh, you can always catch up next time. If you don't already have a POJ Unicode to ASCII script, I can give you my Perl module (which I use on [1]). It's GPL'ed (I think) so you can do whatever you want with it (well, almost). - Hi there, we have tried our bot but the redirect files we intended to do became article pages. Pagefromfile.py seems not to a good way to create redirect pages. Have any ideas how to go around this problem? Hiòng-êng 01:52, 25 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- That's strange. As far as I know, a redirect page is just an article page that happens to say "#redirect blah blah blah". You might want to test with a more normal-looking page name (no double colons). A-giâu 13:26, 25 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- And the #REDIRECT stuff's got to be on the first line. A-giâu 13:29, 25 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- A-giâu, we have done that, but the redirect pages didn't automatically redirect, it just became article pages. we tested it with Ban5-lam5-gu2, Hiong3-eng5 just edited it manually so that it redirected by itself. the text I made is like this.
#REDIRECT Bân-lâm-gú Ban5-lam5-gu2
This did not work, what worked is something like this...
#REDIRECT Bân-lâm-gú

- So if the script is modified not to include the PageName (Ban5-lam5-gu2) in the page, maybe it will work. -- A-yao 13:48, 25 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)

[siu-kái] POJ Unicode to ASCII
I have create my own perl script but since I am not sure its bug free, I know I need your script. In reality, I am stuck with crude BASIC programming skills, so even if I use Perl, I use it in a "crude BASIC way" :( How to use the Perl Module? Hiòng-êng 01:52, 25 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. I'll try to include a short example. I'm not a Perl guru, either :) A-giâu 06:25, 26 Chhit-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay -- I still need to find the files and package them for ease of use. A-giâu 15:57, 1 Peh-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] Minnan ASCII bot issue at en.wikt
At English wiktionary's Beer Parlour, the bot seems to be seen as not needed. There's a discussion on whether it be given a bot status or not. A-cai is helping to show our need for ASCII bot, the wiktionarian there see that the search engine is good enough for our ASCII purpose given that the ASCII is in the Min Nan article. Nothing final yet, I guess... -- Hiòng-êng 08:50, 2 Peh-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
- Actually they might be right, though it still needs to be empirically proved. Even if that's true, I can still see a bot inserting ASCII into articles that don't have them. A-giâu 09:30, 3 Peh-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] Sû-lūi
Do you have a list of all the important Sû-lūi?
like synonym (同義字), I can't find this. Also suffix and others. -- Hiòng-êng 01:31, 7 Peh-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
[siu-kái] 的
Can you check 的 format if there is any need for revisions on the format.
[siu-kái] Hakka Entries
Thank you for correcting the Hakka entries!:) A-yao 12:04, 12 Cha̍p-goe̍h 2006 (UTC)
